Excuse My Adlib Radio

EMA Digest – Aug 2017

We set off August by having a guest on. Longtime friend of the show, Konichiwa (@MsB_Applebum) joined us to talk about Lauryn Hill. This was right after Rick Ross was on the Breakfast Club Morning Show in New York, talking about why he couldn’t sign a female to his label. He said it was because he would end up having sex with them. This was definitely a topic that could use a woman’s perspective.

So Andre 3000 did an interview with Rolling Stone where he basically said he was giving up on rap…in so many words. This was similar to the episode mentioned above, in that 3 Stacks and Lauryn Hill both need to be inspired to create the high quality music we’ve all come to expect of them. We also talked about Boosie’s controversial comments about his son as well as Tyler’s playful shots at Schoolboy Q.

We celebrated Hip Hop’s birthday by answering a variety of questions about our personal tastes in mursic. We had to name an artist we hated, who we thought were over/underrated, best rapper, most influential and more. We had mad fun recording this episode.

The Ringer published an article titled Which Rapper Had the Best Verse on “24 Hours To Live”? It was a damn good article…written by Shae Serrano. We read it and decided we HAD to have the debate as well. We had to discuss whether or not we agreed with Shae, who’s verses were a little too outlandish, what we would personally do with only 24 hours and much more. It was another fun ass episode.

Our last show in August was about Cardi B. She’s been blowing up lately off of her song, Bodak Yellow. Off air, Big Therm argued with Rozay that Cardi will need another hit if she wants to continue to ascend. We decided it was a discussion that needed to be had on mic…so we did.
